ABSTRACT

A link exists between psychological stress and gastrointestinal microbiota imbalance that may induce SIBO in individuals with specific mental health disorders, such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. The aim was to develop a FODMAP foods list for SIBO that models an ancestral diet approach for utility in nutrition practice. A shopping list was developed and sample meals for individuals that present with SIBO. Low FODMAPs may reduce SIBO and correlating symptoms in clients.
